Change Maker Sydnie Collins Shines a Light on Youth Mental Health Awareness The two-day Youth Mental Health Awareness Walk and Rally raises awareness about the importance of paying attention to adolescents' mental health in communities and beyond. The Walk and Rally is a youth-led initiative that allows young people to talk about mental health in their own voices and dispel common fears or stigmas that keep them in silence. On Friday, May 3, 2024, with a mental health short film, Don't Tell Me Ur Sorry, written and produced by Anah Ambuchi, a 16-year-old Kenyan American actress and director. On Saturday, May 4, 2024, in The Town of LaPlata, Maryland, our first annual mental health walk for youth. The host is passionate about creating what you don't see and investing in the community by taking steps to make a meaningful impact for a brighter day in tomorrow's future. Through the collaboration with Save A Girl Save A World (SAGSAW), a nonprofit 501c3 organization sponsoring the upcoming Youth Mental Health Walk and Rally, This Walk and Rally addresses the world's biggest challenges and the public health crises surrounding children's mental health and the importance of seeking Behavioral Health services. With the increase in mental illnesses, suicides have risen and are now the second leading cause of death in individuals aged 10-14 and 20-34. According to the CDC, the National Institute of Mental Health, the number of people who have died by suicide has increased steadily over the last few years.
