About Us

Based out of Waldorf, Md we are a NFL Flag Football affiliated youth organization that provides an opportunity for the youth ages 4 to 17 in the Southern Maryland region to participate in a flag football and cheer. Out of 2500 NFL Flag Football leagues spanning across 49 states and Canada, SMYFFL was recently named and nationally recognized as the NFL Flag Football League of the Year, SMYFFL is home to one of the Top Five Finalist for NFL Flag Football Male Athlete of the Year and two Baltimore Ravens and one Washington Commanders NFL Flag Football Regional Tournament Champions. We offer two seasons each year, Spring and Fall.

A devoted advocate for youth sports, Reggie Barksdale is the Owner and Commissioner of the Southern Maryland Youth Flag Football League (SMYFFL) in Waldorf, Maryland. Now celebrating its 20th year, SMYFFL is one of Maryland's largest coed NFL Flag Football leagues, with over 1,600 young athletes engaged in flag football and cheer. Under his leadership, SMYFFL has not only achieved athletic success but also received recognition as a recipient of the Charles County Economic Development Business Growth Advantage Program.

Reggie is passionate about inspiring the next generation through lessons in teamwork, responsibility, entrepreneurship, and sportsmanship. His mission is to mentor youth, helping them create lifelong memories and understand the values that come with sports. “A football never bounces the same way twice; follow that bounce and let that football take you places.”
